Miami Bryce

Off we went to Maribor, i had a sore hand going into Maribor from my crash the previous week in Lisbon, but i’d been to see sport-MED in Stockport and i knew i would be able to ride, it was just a matter of how uncomfortable it would be!!
Anyway we arrived on the Wednesday night to pissing rain, it was the same on Thursday when we walked the track. They were using the same track as the previous years and it is rougher than a goats knee these days… it really is!

Friday practice was hard, it was drying up, so the clay was gloopy, i felt awkward on the bike and my hand was giving me some myther! By the end of the day i didn’t really feel i had achieved much so i walked the track and got a load of new lines, which put me in a better mindset for quali’ the next day!

Practice Saturday morning was ace, it had rained loads more. So instead of being sticky there was a river down the track. For me it was so much easier to ride, i was having a great time! I had a good smooth run in qualifying up until i caught Nick Beer in the bottom section and sat behind for a good 30 seconds because he wouldn’t get out of my way, i ended up 7th which i was happy with and i knew i had more in the tank.

Sunday i got in one practice run like everyone else and i was feeling good about things. The track was starting to dry up again and get to that sticky stage! I warmed up felt confident and attacked the top section of the track until i came into this rooty left, where i promptly sat on my balls on the top tube! I pushed on but i had lost my rhythm and was not getting onto my lines. My run wasn’t great with a few big errors, this cost me big time with the tight times, i was 16th of a second off being in the top ten which really frustrated me, but it was the best start to a season i have had so far and i feel it’s a solid start and a good place to work up from!
Im pleased to know my speed is there and the training has paid off!!
